Up until 3 years ago I wasn’t a big fan of avocados, the flavour just didn’t do it for me. Maybe it was the avocados I grew up with. And if someone would have offered me an avocado dessert I would have probably said there’s no way I am trying this. But then one day I put my fear of avocados aside and decided to try some in a salad, and I liked it? Then I had more of it, and now I am completely obsessed with this precious creamy fruit. I could eat it every day!
I know pairing avocados and chocolate sounds weird but until you try it. The avocados give the mousse a deliciously creamy texture and you can’t even taste it as the cacao is the predominant flavour. And it’s vegan and healthy too. Loaded with good fats, and natural sugars from the dates and maple syrup, you can eat this without guilt! And add some raspberries to it as well for some freshness, or any other berries you prefer.
The first time I made avocado chocolate mousse it didn’t really work out. I think I used the wrong type of avos. The best one to use is the hass variety in my opinion, as the flavour is milder.
Any thoughts?
