Anzac day is just around the corner so I decided to make my own version of this traditional Australian cookie, the Anzac biscuit.
The original recipe uses golden syrup (which is basically just pure sugar), loads of butter and white flour. My version of these biscuits is a lot healthier. I used maple syrup as a substitute for golden syrup, coconut oil in the place of butter and almond flour instead of white wheat flour. And they taste amazing! I pretty much ate half a batch of biscuits in one go.
And they are so easy to make too, just throw all the ingredients in a large bowl and combine them. And they don’t take long to bake in the oven either. You can’t go wrong with these.
I just wanted to say I tried this recipe yesterday – they were delicious thanks!
That’s great to hear Krystal. Glad you liked them :)
Hi there, I tried to work out the calories in this biscuit and I worked it out to around 700 per biscuit, this seems a lot, have I miscalculated? Does anyone else know how many calories per biscuit there are?
Thanks.
Hey cassie,
I calculated the calories to be about 80 per serve with plain flour instead of almond. Hope this helped
Hi there
I just made these biscuits and they didn’t flatten out like yours at all. Do you know why that might be? Would it be the baking powder?
Thanks. Looking forward to trying them!
