I’ve only recently started using mesquite powder after seeing it listed as an ingredient in many recipes, I thought I’d give it a go.
For those who don’t know mesquite is a plant that has been eaten for centuries by indigenous people in North and parts of South America. It is very rich in nutrients such as calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc. It is also very high in protein.
Mesquite has a sweet, nutty, caramel-like flavour and is a great ingredient in desserts. This time I decided to use it in a smoothie combined with banana, dates, cinnamon and a few other ingredients. Best smoothie ever!
