Passionfruit has been one of my favourite fruits since I was a kid. I was a lucky to grow up in a country with an abundance of tropical fruit. I remember the passionfruits we used to get in Brazil were huge, the size of an orange, with yellow skin and so much sweet pulp inside. Delicious! The Australian passionfruit is a lot smaller, with purple skin on the outside, but still delicious!
I normally make my smoothies with berries but every now and then I try adding something different. I found out banana and passionfruit are the perfect combination! And it reminds me of summer, even though it’s freezing here now.
I also like to add brown rice protein powder to my smoothies for a protein boost and something to supercharge it with nutrients, like maca powder (which is super rich in magnesium). I prefer to use frozen banana as it gives the smoothie a much creamier texture and you also don’t need to add ice.
